1 ETH

Ethereum Execution Layer Specification

After more than a year in development, Ethereum Foundation the Ethereum Execution Layer Specification (affectionately known as EELS.) EELS is a Python reference implementation of the core components of an Ethereum execution client focused on readability and clarity.

EELS provides complete snapshots of the protocol at each fork — including upcoming ones — making it much easier to follow than EIPs (which only propose changes) and production clients (which often mix multiple forks in the same codepath.)

2 Optimism

Native USDC on OP Mainnet

USDC issued by Circle will be native to OP Mainnet and can be considered the official form of USDC for the ecosystem. Over time, native USDC liquidity may grow and replace the currently circulating bridged USDC liquidity that comes from Ethereum.

Ahead of the launch of native USDC, the Ethereum-bridged form of USDC on block explorers will be renamed as USDC.e. There will also be outreach to ecosystem apps to make the same change in their app UI and documentation.

3 Base

Native USDC on Base

USDC issued by Circle will be native to Base and can be considered the official form of USDC for the ecosystem. Over time, we expect native USDC liquidity will grow and may replace the currently circulating bridged USDbC liquidity that comes from Ethereum.

On the upcoming launch day for native USDC, @BuildOnBase will share details on the ecosystem apps that will offer easy ways to seamlessly swap from bridged USDbC to USDC.

4 Cosmos

The Cosmos community is voting on the “v12 upgrade” proposal

The Cosmos community is currently voting on Community Proposal 821, planning for a v12 upgrade. The upgrade includes enabling the Liquid Staking Module (LSM). Voting will run until September 8.

5 SUI

Sui mainnet upgraded to version V1.8.1

The Sui mainnet has been upgraded to version V1.8.1. This update includes adding a zkLogin protocol configuration feature flag for testing in the development network, and using the updated proof verification logic for zkLogin signature verification; when building the Move code , the updated version has additional linter warnings related to collection comparisons in Sui framework code (Bag, Table, and TableVec); updated error code assignments to support a cleaner error reporting structure, etc.

6 Polygon

Dragon Fruit is expected to hit mainnet the week of September 11

Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta is getting its first major upgrade: Dragon Fruit, aka ForkID5. The Dragon Fruit upgrade includes the latest EVM opcode, PUSH0, bringing Polygon zkEVM up to date with Solidity v0.8.21 Dragon Fruit requires upgrading the Polygon.zkEVM.sol consensus contract. Dragon Fruit is expected to hit mainnet the week of September 11.

7 Omni

Omni Network has launched the Omini Overdrive testnet

Ethereum interoperability protocol Omni Network has launched the Omini Overdrive testnet, which now supports the Arbitrum, Scroll, and Linea networks.
